Though Blackjack is an entertaining and fast-paced game, adding new features to the game makes it even more attractive. The idea of having side bets with handsome payouts has always been welcomed by gamblers and casinos alike. They promise huge payouts, more excitement to the gamblers, and an increased house edge to the casinos, making it a win-win scenario for both parties.
What is Super Sevens Blackjack?
Super Sevens is a side bet in the Blackjack game that is dependent on the gambler’s hand. The bet is successful if the gambler’s hand contains seven or sevens, hence the name. Getting a seven makes the gambler eligible to be paid, and more sevens mean higher payouts (The limit is three sevens since the hand busts going over 21 = 7+7+7).
Although being dealt a seven in the first two cards results in the bet’s success, the ultimate payout belongs to a hand of three sevens of the same suit.

Rules of Super Sevens:
There is a designated area next to the main bet on the Super Sevens Blackjack table where gamblers can place this side bet. It is an optional bet with minimum and maximum limits, usually between 1$ and 5$. Since the ultimate payout is 5000 to 1, casinos do not risk accepting higher stake bets and usually stick to the maximum 5$ bet.
Super Sevens Blackjack can be played with 4,5,6, and 8 decks, but 6 decks are preferred most of the time. The number of decks indirectly correlates with the house edge. In other words, the more decks are used in the game, the lower the Super Sevens house edge gets.
Crazy Sevens and Lucky Sevens are two variations of the Super Sevens. They vary in payouts and third card guarantee.
Third card guarantee refers to the possibility of getting a third card if the dealer has a Blackjack hand. All three above side bets are offered with and without a third card guarantee, depending on the casino rules. Not offering a third card guarantee increases the Super Sevens’ house edge.

Super Sevens:

The house edge increases when a third card is not offered when the dealer has a Blackjack.
Crazy Sevens:
Crazy Sevens is the same as the Super Sevens but with the exception of offering different payouts. The following table illustrates the probability of each hand based on a 6-deck game alongside the payout. The probability of Crazy Sevens’ hands is the same as the Super Seven.

It offers a 5: 1 payout if the gambler is dealt at least one seven, which is higher than the 3: 1 of the Super Sevens. But, it has a 2000: 1 payout for a triple-seven suited hand, which is way less than the payout offered in the Super Sevens.

Crazy Sevens has the lowest house edge of 4.71% among all the variations.
Lucky Sevens:
Lucky Sevens offers the lowest payouts, and a third card is not dealt if the dealer has a Blackjack. The following table illustrates the payouts and probabilities based on an 8-deck game.

The payout for a triple-seven suited is ten times less than the Super Sevens’ payout.

It has some of the highest house edges among all the variations and is not recommended.
Strategy to win at Super Sevens Blackjack:
When Super Sevens side bet was first introduced to the gambling world, card counters started to take advantage of it. They did so by keeping track of the number of sevens and the remaining cards that come out of the shoe. Understanding when more sevens are in the shoe gives the gamblers an edge to bet accordingly.
Super Sevens slowly disappeared from casinos in the late 90s, but it has made a comeback in recent years. It is mostly offered in Online casinos with automatic re-shuffling after each round and NO Third Card Guarantee.
