Kara Scott’s early life and childhood:

Kara was born on August 11th, 1975, in Northern Alberta, Canada. She grew up with her brother and sister in a small town of 600 people. With only two TV channels available in the region then, she would repeatedly watch science-fiction movies. It inspired her to train in Muay Thai as a child so that she could fight like the characters in the movies. Still not involved in the hustle and bustle of a big city, she would read books and play cards with her family and friends. Poker was among the games she played as a child, which later defined her career and life path (more on that later). She had a total of six Muay Thai fights, out of which she impressively won four. She wanted to move to a developing country and work in the education sector as an adult. She has a bachelor’s degree in Education and Linguistics from Canada. Furthermore, she moved to London in 1999 to continue her education and teach at a school. Her memorable story from this period was when a student wanted to set her on fire in her early teaching months.

The producers of a poker TV show got to know Kara from her Backgammon program and proposed she join their team. The show Poker Night Live wanted a novice who would ask lots of questions and a pro poker player would commentate on the mistakes. The show’s audience could also send emails to mention the mistakes the player made according to their opinion. Kara’s journey started as a TV presenter and host, but the Poker Night Live show made her a pro poker player besides being a host. She has been working on poker-related content ever since.

Kara later joined Sky Television to be one of the Sky Poker hosts in 2007. A recognizable face in the poker world, she went on to host the European Poker Tour 2007/2008 seasons as well.
