Kara was born on August 11th, 1975, in Northern Alberta, Canada. She grew up with her brother and sister in a small town of 600 people. With only two TV channels available in the region then, she would repeatedly watch science-fiction movies. It inspired her to train in Muay Thai as a child so that she could fight like the characters in the movies. Still not involved in the hustle and bustle of a big city, she would read books and play cards with her family and friends. She wanted to move to a developing country and work in the education sector as an adult. She has a bachelor’s degree in Education and Linguistics from Canada. Kara Scott’s Poker and Journalism Journey:
Having a background in martial arts, Kara got a job to present a Muay Thai TV program in London. This was the beginning of a series of events that reunited Kara with poker, which later defined her career. Gaining experience in TV, Kara soon entered the world of games and managed to be the host of the World Series of Backgammon in 2006. The producers of a poker TV show got to know Kara from her Backgammon program and proposed she join their team. The show Poker Night Live wanted a novice who would ask lots of questions and a pro poker player would commentate on the mistakes.
